The historic Güney Palace Apartments gave us an extraordinary setting. From the beginning, our ambition was to honour the building’s heritage while bringing a new perspective to it — one that feels elegant, contemporary and entirely its own.

Every room and suite has its own character, and every detail throughout Mr. CAS has been considered with purpose. From the interiors and art to the atmosphere and hospitality, we wanted to create a place that feels both exceptional and deeply personal.

And then there is İstiklal Avenue, just beyond our doors — one of Istanbul’s most iconic streets and an essential part of the Mr. CAS experience.

Story of Mr. CAS

They say Mr. CAS was a gentleman unlike any other.

He lived at the historic Güney Palace Apartments, in the heart of Pera — a world of grand avenues, elegant soirées and endlessly fascinating characters. Known for his impeccable taste and unconventional spirit, Mr. CAS had a gift for bringing remarkable people together.

His gatherings soon became legendary.

Behind the doors of Güney Palace, evenings unfolded over long dinners, music, conversation and celebration. Every detail mattered: the atmosphere, the table, the flowers, the music, the way a guest was welcomed. Yet above all, it was the presence of the host himself that made an evening at Mr. CAS impossible to forget.

An invitation was something to look forward to. Guests dressed for the occasion and arrived ready to step, if only for an evening, into the world of Mr. CAS — elegant yet never formal, sophisticated yet full of character.

More than a century later, the doors are open once again.

Today, Mr. CAS carries that spirit forward within the same historic walls. A place shaped by individuality, thoughtful details and the pleasure of welcoming people well.

Pera became Beyoğlu. The city evolved. The guests changed.

But the spirit of Mr. CAS never left.

Güney Palas Building

A century of Istanbul, behind one remarkable façade.

Standing on İstiklal Avenue since 1900, Güney Palas has witnessed more than 125 years of life in the heart of Pera. Through generations, changing eras and an ever-evolving city, the building has remained a distinctive presence on one of Istanbul’s most iconic streets.

Step inside, and much of its original character is still there.

Hand-painted glass doors, carved wood panelling, intricate plasterwork, decorated ceilings and a sweeping marble staircase reveal the craftsmanship of another era. These are not details recreated to evoke the past; they are part of the building itself, carefully preserved and still shaping its character today.

At Mr. CAS, we chose not to compete with that history, but to let it lead. Contemporary design sits alongside original architecture, allowing old and new to exist naturally together. The result is neither a recreation of the past nor a departure from it, but a place with a character entirely its own.

More than a century after Güney Palas first opened its doors, its story continues — not as a monument to another time, but as a living part of Istanbul.

Yıldırım Mayruk Petite – Haute Couture Museum

For more than 25 years, Güney Palas was home to the atelier of Yıldırım Mayruk, one of the defining names of Turkish haute couture.

Within these historic walls, Mayruk created for generations of Istanbul’s most elegant women, while the celebrated milliner Signor Emilio also worked from the building. Together, their ateliers made Güney Palas a destination for fashion and craftsmanship — so much so that it became affectionately known among Istanbul society as the “Tailors’ Apartments.”

Decades later, that connection became part of the story of Mr. CAS.

Yıldırım Mayruk generously contributed to the original design of the Mr. CAS uniforms, bringing his unmistakable sense of elegance to a new chapter in the life of the building he knew so well.

In honour of his remarkable career, his enduring connection to Güney Palas and his contribution to Mr. CAS, we created the Yıldırım Mayruk Petite Haute Couture Museum within the hotel.

The collection offers a glimpse into the artistry of Turkish haute couture — a world of extraordinary craftsmanship, intricate detail and timeless elegance. More than an exhibition, it is a tribute to a designer, an era and the creative spirit that has long lived within these walls.

Fashion once lived here.
In many ways, it still does.

The museum is open daily from 10:00 to 18:00 and welcomes both hotel guests and outside visitors.
